Abstract

The paper deals with cost benefit analysis of a complex system composed of two subsystems A and B arranged in a series configuration. A redundancy of subsystem A of identical nature is
also available and initially it is kept into cold standby. To repair a failed unit a repair-equipment is required. Initially, the repair-equipment is good and it can’t fail unless it begins operation. During the repair of a failed unit, the repair-equipment may also fail. A single repairman can be made available instantaneously with the system to repair a failed unit as well as failed repair-equipment. The joint distribution of failure and repair times of each unit is taken to be Bi-variate Exponential whereas the failure and repair times of repair-equipment are taken as exponentials. The various measures of system effectiveness are obtained by using regenerative point technique.
