Abstract

This article introduces descriptive Smirnov fuzzy proximity useful in the study of the closeness of spatially separated but descriptively close surface shapes. In addition, a corresponding measure is given. \tclr{W}e establish useful results regarding the behavior of the new descriptive fuzzy proximity measure. The focus here is on triangular fuzzy numbers due to their favorable arithmetical properties. Applications of this work are given in terms of the study of approximate closeness of object shapes found in single digital images and in video frames.
