Abstract

The aim of this paper is to present special boundary value problems for some second order nonlinear differential equations describing equilibrium capillary surfaces, occurring in shaped crystal growth from the melt. Necessary or sufficient conditions are given, in terms of the pressure difference p across the capillary surface, for the existence of convex solutions of the considered boundary value problems. This kind of results can be useful in experiment and manufacturing technology design.
