Preface:Recent advances in modeling, approximation, and control of distributed parameter systems

Abstract

The papers published in this special issue are addressing topics related to the analysis, approximation, control, and estimation of distributed parameter systems (DPSs). This volume grew out of the special session "Approximation and Control for Distributed Parameter Systems with Applications" at the ICNPAA Congress: "Mathematical Problems in Engineering, Aerospace and Sciences" held at the Vienna University of Technology in July, 2012 with the addition of two manuscripts. The contributions provide insights to some of the current mathematical challenges facing  researchers when dealing with DPSs.
