Reliability estimation of component based software system with path based model
In software development, reliability is one of the core issues in the success or failure stories of the software. Though reliability is considered as the non-performance attribute, but for large and complex software like component based software it is one of the fundamental properties. The reliability of component based systems relies on the reliability of its constituent components. In literature there are a number of efficient methods proposed and practiced to measure the reliability of component based systems. This work proposes a new approach to assess the reliability of component based software system (CBSS) in terms of usage coefficient of components. Usage coefficient plays a crucial role in reliability estimation, as higher the activation time of a component, higher its impact on the reliability of the overall system.
