Abstract

This paper presents an architecture to implement an 8-bit Fuzzy Logic Coprocessor on a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) integrated circuit to achieve high speed processing on a closed-loop system. A Fuzzy Logic Coprocessor is an open architecture hardware that performs Mamdani Fuzzy Inference, allowing variations like change of attributes in input and output Membership Functions (MFs), and change the quantity of rules. Relative speed execution is described and round up error sources are identified for a targeted FPGA integrated circuit.
